I would say I read the first Percy Jackson book around 6th grade, which is ¨The Lightning Thief¨. Ultimately, that was the book that got me into reading in general. Until then, I had never really enjoyed reading books, but I suppose that is because I just wasn't reading the right ones. My encounter with the series got me into reading all in itself. After reading the first book, my mind was shaken with "Wow, I need more of this". It really spiked my interest in Greek Mythology. The journeys, the people, the places, the ideas, I was hooked by all of it. And I have to say, even though I read the series twice, I would probably be open to reading it once more. Not only was the book very creative and imaginative, but all the while well telling a fiction story, most of the mythological ideas in the series was indeed actual Greek mythology. Two worlds of imaginative thinking were introduced at the hands of an author.
The story consists of Percy Jackson, who thought he was nothing more then a kid with problems, with the ADHD, being dyselxic, and being moved from school to school every year. He knew his mother was hiding things from him, and he always wanted to know what it was, but he knew not to push it. Eventually, he discovered his true identity (a demigod), and long story short he prevented a war between the gods.
